Accounts, sync and backups

Use LazyBoard without an account, or sign in to keep one library on every device.

On this page

Without an account#

LazyBoard works offline with no account. Your snippets are saved on your computer (or in your Chrome profile) in a local library. The account button at the bottom of the sidebar reads Sign in to sync your snippets.

Create an account or sign in#

  1. Click the account button at the bottom of the sidebar.
  2. Choose Create account, or sign in with your email and password.
  3. Open the confirmation email on any device to verify your account.

One account works on the Mac and Windows apps, the Chrome extension and LazyBoard Mate. Manage your password, plan and data on the account page.

How sync works#

With LazyBoard Pro, your account library syncs between all your devices. Edits save locally first, so you can keep working offline, and sync when you’re back online. The status at the top of the window shows All changes synced, Syncing… or Sync needs attention; use Sync now to retry.

Export and import backups#

In Settings → Backup & help, choose Export backup to save your library as a file, and Import backup to load one. Backups contain your snippet text, so keep them somewhere safe. Imported snippets whose shortcut is already used have their shortcut disabled, so nothing clashes.

Import from the phone keyboard#

Import backup also accepts exports from the original LazyBoard phone keyboard (.lazyboardexport, .bokharyexport, its CSV and JSON formats). Folders and phrases come across, and phone variables keep working (see phone keyboard syntax). Read the import guide for details.

Automatic templates#

With Pro, LazyBoard can fetch read-only templates from your own API and show them in the picker like snippets, on your computer and iPhone. In Settings → Options → Automatic templates, enter the API URL and how often to fetch (in seconds), then choose Fetch templates. The API returns JSON in this shape:

{
  "folders": [
    {
      "title": "Replies",
      "templates": [
        { "title": "Thanks", "content": "Thanks for your message!" }
      ],
      "folders": [
        {
          "title": "Follow-ups",
          "templates": [
            { "title": "Checking in", "content": "Do you have any questions?" }
          ]
        }
      ]
    }
  ]
}

Each folder has a title and a templates array, and can contain more folders. Edit templates at the source; LazyBoard keeps the last downloaded copy if your API is unreachable.
