Business is US$10 per user a month billed annually (US$120 a year) or US$12 billed monthly. Enterprise is priced on request. Prices are in US dollars, exclude tax, and there is no lifetime license.

What it costs per year
- One person on Pro: US$60 a year billed annually, or US$72 a year paid monthly. Paying annually saves the equivalent of two months.
- Three years of Pro: US$180 billed annually. There is no one-time or lifetime option.
- A team of five: US$300 a year on Pro, which allows up to 5 users, or US$600 a year on Business.
- A team of ten: Business only, US$1,200 a year billed annually or US$1,440 paid monthly.
Taxes are extra. TextExpander says customers in countries that require VAT or GST, including the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Australia, may see a base price with an estimated 20% added for local tax, converted to local currency at checkout.
Is TextExpander free?
Yes, with a tight limit. The Free plan is free forever and needs no credit card. You can store any number of snippets, but only 5 are active at once, and you can swap one active snippet for another every two weeks. Free also allows sharing with up to 5 people across 3 teams.
New accounts get a 30-day preview of paid features. When it ends, the account moves to Free automatically: your snippets are kept and 5 stay active until you upgrade. If your daily set is five snippets or fewer, Free may be all you need.
Pro or Business?
Pro covers up to 5 users with unlimited active snippets, unlimited teams, and the advanced dynamic content. Choose Business when the team is larger than five, or when you need Snippet Requests, sharing with guests outside your organization, Google single sign-on, or a 7-day snippet activity history instead of 24 hours. Enterprise adds single sign-on with all providers and SCIM, granular sharing controls, custom reporting, and invoiced billing.
Ways to pay less
- Pay annually: US$60 instead of US$72 a year for Pro.
- Stay on Pro for a team of up to five; Business doubles the price per user.
- Keep your five most-used snippets on Free and move rarely used text elsewhere.
- Downgrade instead of cancelling: TextExpander keeps your snippets on Free, and annual plans run to the end of the paid term.
- If you only need text on one or two computers, a one-time license may cost less than a single year of Pro.
Cheaper alternatives
| Tool | Price | Platforms |
|---|---|---|
| LazyBoardPersonal saved replies | Free: 10 snippets; Pro US$30/year | Mac, Windows, Chrome |
| Text BlazeForms and rules | Pro about US$35.88/year | Chrome, Windows, Mac |
| aTextOne-time license | US$29.99 lifetime per system | Mac, Windows (separate licenses) |
| FastKeysWindows automation | US$29 one-time | Windows |

None of these matches every TextExpander feature: Espanso uses configuration files, aText and FastKeys sync through your own folder or not at all, and LazyBoard has no if/then rules or shared team workspace. Compare them in detail in TextExpander alternatives and text expanders without a subscription.
LazyBoard is our own text expander for Mac, Windows, and Chrome. The Free plan keeps 10 snippets in 3 folders without an account, and Pro is US$30 a year for unlimited snippets and cloud sync.
